Nano care antimicrobial

Liquid Guard® self-disinfecting wipe-on glass coating is the newest generation of surface protection that ensures all surfaces stay clean. Not only does it repel liquids and dirt and prevent micro scratches, it also boasts an antimicrobial function that kills viral and bacterial pathogens that come into contact with surfaces, thus reducing the spread of coughs and colds at home and in the community.

Liquid Guard has now been tested effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus for some time – results which supported the pre-existing TGEV Coronavirus certification and further underlined Liquid Guard’s broad effectiveness against enveloped viruses. The enveloped virus category includes the most recent Covid 19 variants including ‘Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta’.

The broad range of effectiveness testing conducted includes  SARS-CoV-2, TGEV Coronavirus and Influenza A. Verification of effectiveness against these enveloped viruses confirms Liquid Guards’ role in the transfer of transient microbes via hand-surface-hand transfer.

Further testing on SARS-COV-2 will continue into early  2021 and updates will be posted on this site and via our newsletter.

With easing of lockdown restrictions and the increased movement of people at work and leisure, Liquid Guard® has an invaluable role in actively helping to break the transfer of transient microbes via hand-surface-hand contact, especially in high touch areas that are hard to clean between ‘touches’ – while segments of the population remain unvaccinated.

Liquid Guard® has been applied to many hundreds of thousands of meters of public and private space over the last 18 months in a multitude of sectors, including:-

  • London galleries – ICA – Pall Mall
  • Burnley Football club training ground and stadium-  Burnley FC application video
  • Airports
  • Supermarkets
  • Hotels
  • Gyms
  • Schools
  • UK Govt Offices
  • Felixstowe Port

As part of the verification of Liquid Guards® effectiveness and on-going performance,  ATP field testing is widely used by end users and application contractors on treated surfaces; see the table below of “real life” field test results:-

Storage stability: 1 year
Temperature Sensitivity: 3 to 40°C
Usage: Wipes: 1 x cleaning and polymerizing wipe + 1 x activating wipe for up to 3m²

Spray: Approximately 10ml/m2  for Cleaner + Primer and Liquid Guard spray

Application: step 1 use the cleaning and polymerising wipe/spray (LIQUID GUARD® clean and primer wipe) to degrease and clean the surfaces thoroughly. Only in case of extreme contamination (or limescale) should a pre-cleaner for the specific type of contamination be used. After the liquid has evaporated (circa 5 min at normal room temperature) a polymer layer is formed.

step 2 to activate the polymer layer so it becomes antimicrobial, wipe it over with the activating wipe (LIQUID GUARD® wipe)/Liquid Guard spray thoroughly as per step 1.

step 3 after 2 minutes the surface should be buffed using the microfiber wipe/cloth until all visible streaks disappear. A thorough polishing will be necessary, especially on transparent or shiny surfaces.

After 6 hours the coating is hardened and ready for use.
