Nano Care’s range of easy clean glass coating and superhydrophobic coating products constitutes the most comprehensive collection on the market. Once applied, nanoscale protective layers (which are 80,000 times thinner than a human hair) bond with the substrate to leave a smooth, anti-stain, non-discolouring surface layer. Applications protect glass and polished porcelain with an ultra-hydrophobic film, eradicating limescale and soap scum and providing an anti-fingerprint finish.

Easy Clean Coatings for Glass and Glazing

Glassguard™ (VP12) Easy Clean Glass Coating gives non-absorbent, mineral surfaces such as glass, ceramic, stainless steel, polished porcelain or polished natural stone a reliable non-stick easy-clean performance. Once applied, a protective layer less than 100-nm thick bonds with the substrate to leave an anti-stain, anti-fingerprint finish layer.

For commercial application by glass processors and equipment manufacturers, Glassguard™ (VP12) Easy Clean Glass Coating provides a quick and effective means of creating a permanent, easy-clean, non-stick bond for glass surfaces. The irritant-free ethanol-based solution doesn’t release noxious fumes, ensuring that there are no negative effects on the user. Independent workplace testing has verified that manual application by polishing is completely safe in the work environment.

For many production lines, the polishing application of  Glassguard™ (VP12) Easy Clean Glass Coating is the final process: a high-value additional finish for the final polishing stage.

Where automated application is required, we can provide nanotechnology solutions or consultation for the most appropriate equipment.

For both manual and automated application methods, Glassguard™ (VP12) Easy Clean Glass Coating bonds and dries within seconds, allowing the product to be packed and dispatched on the same day.

The nano coating is crystal-clear, UV-stable, chemically inert and extremely durable, having both hydrophobic and oleophobic capabilities. The ultra-hydrophobic  film coating will not peel or flake and is unaffected by extreme temperatures from –20°C to +350°C. The strength of the permanent chemical bond provides excellent weathering and outstanding mechanical and chemical abrasion resistance.

The superhydrophobic coating provides a robust defence against the build-up of limescale, urine staining and soap scum.

Easy-clean and dirt-repellent properties extend the range of application to automotive glass, solar panels and building protection.

Sandblasted Glass Coating (SG 70) is solvent-based – spray application is not recommended. The product is non-hazardous according to ADR and IATA. This complex technology cannot be diluted.

Please observe the relevant safety data sheet when using Sandblasted Glass Coating (SG 70).

After a pre-clean, the manual coating method involves a simple cloth application. A small quantity (15 ml/m2) is applied to the surface, spread around using a clean cloth and polished out to achieve even coverage. For larger sections, buffing-up to previously applied sections is easily achieved. This simple 2-stage process reduces application time and complexity compared with other products on the market. Coated products can be handled after 1 hour’s drying and dispatched on the day of application. Where automated application is required, we can provide solutions or consultation for the most appropriate equipment.

Sandblasted Glass Coating (SG 70) can be used on glass balustrades, feature windows, door side panels and privacy glass (as opaqueness is not impaired).

Anti-Mist Glass Coating enhances glass and plastic surfaces with anti-mist performance. The intelligent coating provides an anti-fingerprint finish and prevents condensation by creating an ultra-hydrophilic film that causes even the minutest droplets in water vapour to be dispersed across the surface, thereby preventing misting.

For the best results, the anti-mist spray should be applied weekly or monthly, as cleaning or large volumes of water will reduce performance due to lack of chemical bond with the surface.

Applications are ideal for bathroom glass and mirrors, automotive glass, caravan windows and domestic glass (including eyewear).

Optiperl Fluorine Free DWR gives glass and glazed ceramics a unique silde/glide characteristic that means that everyday environmental dirt, dust and water marks are easily removed from the surface with simple blading or use of mild surface cleaners.

The ultra ‘smooth’ surface delivers a high level of hydrophobic and non-stick functionality meaning that environmental debris such as bird faeces, insects and dust can be removed from surfaces easily and without blemish.  This is particularly beneficial for solar panels, as it removes the need for abrasive cloths or cleaners that can leave fine scratch marks on solar cells.

Optiperl Fluorine Free DWR is:

  • Invisible to the human eye (coating thickness of approx’ 150nm) totally translucent and doesn’t change optical values or change surface colour.
  • UV stable, abrasion resistant
  • Resistant to temperature change
  • Breathable
  • Simple one part application process.
  • Chemically resistant between pH2 and pH 13

Optiperl Fluorine Free DWR can be used on:-

  • Glass surfaces in sanitary areas (showers and mirrors)

Solar (PV) PanelGuard is an anti-reflective, anti-pollution, anti-soil surface coating for solar panels which increases the light transmission performance of solar panel glass, whilst reducing the amount of dirt and pollution build-up. It’s a water based liquid coating with a silica-based composition that permanently bonds to the surface of solar glass.  It measurably increases the light transmission of the glass  panel by 2.5%, whilst also increasing energy yield overall by 6-7%* by repelling environmental pollution – which can itself reduce overall panel effectiveness by between 15-40%.

Applications

  • All types of solar panel glass

Product specification

The coating is UV stable, chemically inert and extremely durable, with hydrophilic dirt repellent properties.  Solar (PV) PanelGuard increases light transmission and efficiency of panels by 2.5% by reducing the amount of light lost through reflection (which can be up to 4% of the light hitting the panel at right-angles). It does not peel or flake and is unaffected by weather extremes.

Solar (PV) PanelGuard offers protection against:

  • Environmental pollution from windblown dirt, dust, and traffic pollution
  • Damage caused by uric acid in bird droppings – easy clean performance ensures bird droppings simply wash off, or can be removed without the need for abrasive cloths or cleaners which can damage solar cells.
  • UV damage – stable for 5-10 years.

Structure

Solar (PV) PanelGuard has a hydrophilic performance which is achieved through surface modification of the silica-based molecules – its main active ingredient. Hydrophilic surfaces make water precipitation spread over the surface as a sheet of liquid, thus removing contamination. In dry conditions dust, dirt and sand particles are prevented from adhering to hydrophilic surfaces thus making Solar (PV) PanelGuard suitable for use in different climates.

Benefits

Light reflection is reduced leading to increases in transmittances by up to 2.5%

Environmental pollution is unable to adhere to the glass – preventing reduction in light absorption and improving the energy yield by 6-7%*.

Weekly or monthly cleaning schedules can be extended because the surface repellence is increased – reducing the need to physically remove dirt particles.

Treatment/Application Methods

Application rate of 5-10ml/m2

Factory application

Solar (PV) PanelGuard solution can be applied during the manufacturing process of solar panels. Curing at temperatures up to 250oC can reduce drying times and improve mechanical properties.  Solar (PV) PanelGuard has a ‘quick-dry’ function to ensure it is ‘dry to touch’, but it should be kept dry for 24hrs for full bonding to take place ensuring rain fastness.  Full curing occurs at 20oC for 24hrs.

On-site application

Solar (PV) PanelGuard can be applied pre-or-post installation on site and retrospectively to existing panels that have been in situ for a period. Panels should be clean and thoroughly dry before application which is carried out by either wiping, rolling, spraying, or blading the coating onto the panel surface.

On-site curing times will vary as they are dependent on the environmental conditions at the time, but for full rain resistant bonding keep dry for 24hrs.
